As new prenatal testing allows parents to “select” desirable physical attributes for their children by aborting those with the wrong attributes, we are now faced with the ultimate commoditization of childbearing. The Down Syndrome community has dealt with this issue for years, as prenatal testing for Down has resulted in 90% of Down Syndrome children being aborted.

We are excited to have as our fall speaker Dr. Bill Mobley, a premiere neurologist and the acknowledged expert on the treatment of Down Syndrome. He will talk about exciting new possibilities for treatment, as well as the contribution Down Syndrome children and adults bring to their communities.

A Rose and a Prayer Education Group presents a Fundraising Breakfast featuring Dr. William Mobley, Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Department of Neuroscience at UC San Diego and Executive Director of the university’s Down Syndrome Center for Research and Treatment.

His research on the neurobiology of Down syndrome has brought new insights into the disease, including possible treatments.  He has done pioneering work on the neurobiology of Alzheimer’s disease using a mouse model of Down syndrome.

In 2011, Dr. Mobley was honored with the International Sisley-Jerome Lejeune Prize in Paris for his contributions to the field of Down syndrome and genetic intellectual disabilities.  This led to his recognition by U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions on the floor of the House of Representatives.

Who Can Enter

Groups or individuals may enter the contest.

Multiple entries will be accepted.

If a group enters, the group will be awarded the prize to share.

Any person between the ages of 14 - 18 (Youth) and 19 - 25 (Adult) (on date of submission), who is a member of a church or an enrolled student or a homeschooler.

Video Requirements

The subject of the video will be: How I Experienced God in Time of Trouble.

Videos must be no more than 2 minutes in length.

Videos must be in the English language.

First frames of video must contain video title and name and email address of the entry’s Primary Contact. This will not be included in measure of the video length.

Video must be original and owned by entrant(s).

Your video may not use copyright-protected material (including music) unless you are given express written permission from the copyright holder.

Your video must not knowingly contain viruses, corrupted files, or other materials that may cause damage to any computer system.

If any other individual(s) appear(s) in your video you must obtain written waiver and release from each individual depicted (or the individual’s parent or legal guardian, if the individual is a minor) and provide the waiver and release with your entry.

Your video becomes the property of ARAAP, we may use part or all of it in any media for promotion or educational materials.

Judging

Entries will be judged on Creativity, Expressiveness, and Best Coverage of the Theme.

Prizes

Two prizes in each age group Youth and Adult. First Prize - $500; Second Prize - $300; Third Prize - $100.

The general rule is that half of all women who visit a CPC website will schedule an appointment. Of those that do visit, overwhelming majorities choose life.

In 2010, A Rose And A Prayer directed an astonishing 2,000 women to CPC sites, generating as many as 1,000 visits to area-CPCs.

This is by far the most cost-effective way to save lives in Delaware.

This Christmas, we are blessed to have a generous donor agree to match funds up to $12,000 for a renewed online ad campaign to connect even more women to the help they desperately need.

So many women who abort want to choose life, and we’re working to make sure they know help exists for them.

I am writing to correct some misinformation in Ms. Knearl's email to you about HB 80 last week.

A bill was introduced in the Delaware House of Representatives on April 5th that would require parental consent before a minor, up to age 18, could receive an abortion in Delaware.  Read the press release (PDF) for more information.
